Final Essay Revision URGENT

I had three people that didn't show up.  You missed some important information regarding your final essay.  If you did not attend class, realize that you don't have a grade for your final essay.

  • Many of you were either misinformed or under a misunderstanding on how to do your final essay
  • Many of you only wrote three pages worth of research
  • You needed to combine both essays so that it was unified, included your intro, thesis, topics, and academic information 
  • I needed 8 full pages, 12 pt font, APA style, References page
  • You were to do an expanded version of your compare and contrast essay
  • If you did not attend, you need to get a hold of a peer so that they can explain to you in detail what I am looking for

I will be providing extra time:  
  • FINAL ESSAY DRAFT DUE BY 7/7

Currently there is a 60% chance of showers this evening. Unfortunately last night I almost became stranded.  Due to the potential flooding and severe weather, class is cancelled this evening.

Note: Previously I gave groups the option to work on the essay as a group or individually. I am making the essay mandatory that you work with your partners. I expect one presentation and one essay. Out of fairness to everyone I am providing the extra time to complete the project.

Presentation & Essay

Prompt:

Think about our current discussions in education and our experiences dealing with reading and writing.

  • How would you address concerns over our current educational system? 
  • What can we do to enhance learning in the classroom while also paying particular attention to methods of evaluation, our student’s needs, intellectual stimulation, and community involvement?
  • Use the three article we have read to construct a presentation examining some of these issues

Presentation: 15 min (Group of Three) 20 min (Group of Four) 

Begin to critically analyze the prompt (construct/build meaning)
You are not summarizing the articles to present
Pick specific things within the article/s that you wish to discuss as a group
You've been presented with some problems, how do we address some of these issues?  
You have the autonomy of presenting anyway you want

Medium:
  • If you are using multi-media, please bring device to use in class that can be used with projector(ex. laptop computer)
  • If using power point, save in USB drive
  • If using YouTube, keep to minimal (1-2 min tops)
  • If handing out material, please make sufficient copies

Rubric:
  • Everyone must participate
  • I will be providing FEEDBACK for each individual group
  • ORIGINALITY of presentation will be taken into account
  • Style and effective rhetorical  and oral presentation will be taken into account.
